What exemptions do I qualify for?
Why didn’t I get a blue statement?
Verify your mailing address is updated with Kerr Central Appraisal District.
If your property value is below 100,000 and is your homesteaded residence, you will not pay Kerrville ISD taxes because of the homestead exemption.
If your taxes on your homesteaded property are frozen because of additional exemptions as of 2023, you may have significantly less taxes due compared to previous years, or may be exempt from Kerrville ISD taxes. Contact us for further information.
How do I update my mailing address?
Please contact Kerr Central Appraisal District to update your mailing address. This will update for Kerrville ISD, Kerr County and City of Kerrville taxing entities.
What is the difference between a tax deferral and age 65 or older exemption?
Texas school districts are mandated to give a $10,000 exemption (discount) to individuals 65 years of age or older and to disabled persons. A tax ceiling will be applied to your homesteaded property. This limits the amount of taxes you must pay on your residence. Your frozen tax amount may go below your tax ceiling, but may not go higher.
Texans may postpone paying current and delinquent property taxes on their homes by signing a tax deferral affidavit with the Kerr Central Appraisal District. The taxes will incur 5% annual interest. This filed affidavit keeps homeowners from losing their homesteads because of delinquent property taxes. There are no penalties applied to delinquent taxes during an active deferral period.
